How does counter-current swimming work?
Six XXL turbo jets at one end of the pool create an adjustable current. You swim on the spot, facing the current,
without ever touching the side. Gentle, the current allows water walking, aqua aerobics or light rehabilitation;
strong, it offers a real fitness swimming session. At the other end, four seats with headrests and 116 massage jets
let you recover after exercise.
How much does a swim spa cost?
The price including VAT of the Ocean with wood-effect PVC cladding is shown at the
top of this page and on its product page; the version with aluminium and Alu-Teck composite cladding is priced on
quotation. Monthly payments are also available. On top of this price, allow for:
- the concrete slab, designed for the weight of the filled pool;
- a dedicated electrical circuit, on 220 V single-phase or 380 V three-phase, installed by an electrician;
- delivery by one of our official carriers, who will make you an offer, and a crane if access requires it;
- the water care products.
Our guide Hot tub prices details each of these items.
Dimensions: a swim spa under 10 m²
The Ocean is 3.76 m long, 2.20 m wide and 1.10 m high: about 8.3 m² of floor space, with no surround to build. It
holds 6,400 litres of water and weighs 850 kg empty. It travels in a 386 × 238 × 112 cm package: that is the size that
has to get from the lorry to the site. Finally, keep easy access to its technical panel for maintenance.
Above ground, semi-sunken or built in?
The Ocean sits above ground, on a concrete slab: no excavation and no pool masonry. For a semi-sunken or built-in
project, our terms of sale set one rule: do not build in or bury the spa without leaving access and a water outlet.
Have this kind of project approved by a building professional, and talk to your advisor about it before the quote.
Preparing the installation
Filled, the Ocean weighs more than 7 tonnes (850 kg empty and 6,400 litres of water): it rests on a flat concrete
slab designed for this load by a professional. Also plan for access assessed with the carrier, as a crane is sometimes
needed, and a dedicated power supply, on 220 V single-phase or 380 V three-phase.
An advisor studies your site before the quote, from photos or by
video call.
Heating, winter and consumption
Two 3,000 W heaters warm the 6,400 litres. The tub is insulated with heat-reflective panels and rests on an insulated
base: with the thermal cover closed, the water keeps its heat from one session to the next. A frost protection mode
protects the water and pipework in winter, and heating and filtration can be programmed from the spa's control panel,
which can be operated over Wi-Fi with the Balboa option. Consumption depends mainly on the outside temperature, the set
temperature and how often you use it: our article
Hot tub electricity consumption explains how to estimate it.
The water and its care
A skimmer collects leaves and debris from the surface, and the AquaPure UV lamp, available as an option, completes the
treatment, reducing the amount of chemicals needed. The filter cartridges screw in and can be reached without tools.
Between two drains, maintenance follows the same routine as for a hot tub: pH, sanitiser and filter cleaning. Our guide
Hot tub water treatment explains it in detail.
Who is it for?
A swim spa suits swimmers who want to train at home all year round, families torn between a pool and a hot tub, and
gardens where a pool will not fit. If you mainly want relaxation and massage, a
large hot tub for 7 or more may be enough.
Compared with a swimming pool, a swim spa takes up less space, needs less water and can be heated all year round; the
pool keeps the advantage for swimming lengths and family games. Our article
Swim spa or swimming pool compares the two in detail.
